Zoom Best Practices

Ensure that Zoom Client is updated on all your devices to receive latest security patches.​

Latest version as of 10/4/2020: Version 4.6.10 (20033.0407).

• Ensuring that Zoom client is up to date

• Default setting auto update

• To manually check, click profile

​

• Then “Check for Updates”

• Ensuring that connection is secure

• When starting or joining a Zoom meeting, always check that there is the green lock Icon at the top left of the screen.

1) Lock Meeting

 

• Ensure that “Lock Meeting“ enabled once ALL participants have joined

 

• Prevents unauthorized 3rd party joining

(AKA ”Zoom Bombing”)

2) Enable Waiting Room (Waiting Lobby)

• Ensure that enabled

​

• Participants must be allowed by host to join before meeting starts

​

• Host can check participant list before

   meeting starts

3) Participants Control

Host can control if participants can:

   1.Share their screen

   2.Use Chat

   3.Rename themselves

(Recommended to turn off)

Best Practices When Scheduling Meetings:

Never use personal meeting ID

always generate automatically

(Random meeting ID generated)

Check for meeting password

Disable “Enable Join Before Host”

Enable “Enable waiting room”
